Oh, and you were right about ^2 (thanks to Jimbo, I remember him telling me that a few weeks). But the problem was: (10-5)^2 + 12/4 5^2 + 3 25 + 3 28
I got that one right, then. Which one did I miss, I wonder?
I got a 10/10 also, but I had to study that last question about “How do you want us to give us your results?” I wasn’t sure, so I just guessed, and put e-mail – plain text. I guess they’re assuming you are going to take your answer and post it somewhere else. Me? I just wanted to know!
I got 9/10 correct. I assume my problem was what -7 is called. I called it a prime number, but could have as easily said a whole number or integer, being unsure what exactly any of them mean.
That’s a good point! I think I called it an integer. Anyone know what the correct response was, KELLY or BRAD?
I Passed with 9/10. I think i missed the -7 question also. I called it prime. I can figure the problems, but who cares whether the number is prime, and intiger, whole, whatever. Has anyone ever needed that in life?
-7 is an integer.
What did you put for the “2, 2, 3, 4, 5″ question?
Um, I don’t recall that one. Can you refresh my memory, please?
I put Mode for that question. Good point…that was another one I was unsure of. I was sure it WASN’T the average or median, but there was a fourth term I didn’t know the meaning of. What was it?
AH! Right!
I mean, wrong. IOW, I’ll bet that’s the one I got wrong. IIRC my response was “median.”
But even about that, I could be wrong. ;^)
No, you’re right, Anne. I mean, you’re right that you’re wrong. I got it by process of elimination, like Elaine. Standard deviation has something to do with statistics. I looked up its definition just now and I still don’t understand it. Mode, however, turns out to be “The number or range of numbers in a set that occurs the most frequently.”
Then that’s the one I blew.
Big whoop. Like anyone really needs that in their day-to-day lives, after all.
Aren’t you forever reading news articles about the “average this” or the “median that?” I see/hear it all the time.
Granted, mode doesn’t come up often, but it’s at least important to know the distinctions between median and average, and if you think that what is the mode is actually the median, you’re bound to misinterpret “median income” statistics, for example.
I know ‘average’ and ‘mean’ and thought I understood ‘median’ as in “median income”, but ‘mode’ I’d not heard of before. Don’t recall being taught that back when I was in school.

I got a 24, but should have gotten a 26 if I had read the questions carefully, and seen what they were asking and not just assumed I knew what they were asking. Grrr! That bites me everytime. You’d think after as many years, I’d'uv learned.
I gave up on it. I’m really dumbing down, the older I get! Those used to be fairly simple for me, but not now.
You smartypants, you!
Decided to have another go at it (didn’t take the full 30 minutes, of course, since I’d already worked on it some) and also snagged a 24.
But I’m annoyed, for I thought of the correct answer to one of the “add a word to the words” questions, only it didn’t make words I’d ever heard of, so figured that couldn’t be it.
Cheaters.
I got a 23. I totally gave up on a couple of the scrambled word ones. My brain wasn’t there and it was giving me a headache.
And I don’t know how to tell which ones I missed, probably math ones. But at 23 it says I’d probably pass.
I did take a mensa test years ago and I passed, but they wanted money to be a member and I passed on that too.

Oh, I didn’t even attempt the anagram, and only answered one of the “add a word” questions (though the one I did, I answered correctly).
My strength on these things are the number questions.

Well, I failed!
And my homeschoolers still got all the way through Algebra 2 and beyond with flying colors…. Go figure!
Got 8 of 10, which is exactly what I expected. Two of them I completely guessed on.
Nice to know I passed though.

Let’s cut to the chase, OK? The answer, even without seeing the test, is NO.
well, 7 out of 10, but one of them I didn’t answer at all, as I didn’t remember even what it means! Ha!
I think the one I missed was the problem containing (5)^2. I assumed the ^ was a substitute for the 2 being in superscript, so squared the 5.
But mayhap ^ has another meaning entirely? Haven’t seen it in Dmitry’s 8th grade math, however, whether last year or this year.
I flunked, but am not disappointed or surprised. I read real good tho.
HAH! I got them all right! : -D

Congratulations, you got 10/10 correct!
