  • Guess where Don and I were five years ago this very moment?

On an airplane, winging our way to Russia to meet our Dmitry for the first time.   e-aw

That's a real Blast From The Past, going to The Original Ivy Vine (link over there to the left, with the rest of the links) and rereading the time leading up to the adoption.

Amazing how much I've forgotten about it all.  e-rolleyes2

  • five years! how time flies! But looking at the pix of them, I was noticing how grown up Dimitry looks, and Dan is a regular MAN! Dan, the Man! lol

  • I was thinking of Dmitry the other day looking at the photos of all the kids - his smile is incredible now, and before, it was such a severe, maybe sad or tentative smile. I love that big open smile he flashes now.

And, the other thing that's struck me is how long we've all "known" one another. We were all THERE - at the Original Ivy Vine, that is, cheering you on, commiserating with delays, etc. And think how many grandchildren ago that was!

  • It never fails to amaze me how quickly the years go by.  You've given Dmitry a good solid home life with a large and loving family.  And he's given you back just as much joy, I'm sure.   I often think of our two new little granddaughters and how they've been spared growing up in a Guatemalen orphanage.  The sky is the limit for them now, as it is for Dmitry.

  • Are we not blessed to have Dmitry in our family? One never knows what will be a blessing? God knows and you and Don did well!! Thanks for having the heart, love, faith, and vision to seek out Dmitry. We needed him and didn't even know it. But you did, dear Anne. I'm so proud, and impressed with your wisdom and courage which led to joy. Love, from your Mom

  • Aw, p'shaw. :blushing:

    T'weren't nuthin'.
