Just got an email from Beth, and labor has begun! ![]()
She points out Hannah took 40 hours to show up so it might be a while yet.
Still, Faith ought to be here before too long. ![]()
Prayers for the safety of both Beth and Faith would be appreciated.
Jessica had me place an order with Amazon for an infant papasan swing
she wanted, since I've an Amazon Prime account. Fine, did so,
instructing it to be delivered via next day shipping. Order was placed
latish Monday, so that'd be today.
Just spoke to her (she'd
taken Bridgette to the doctor, who was amazed at that astounding,
clever girl's ability to hold up her head and turn from her back to her
side, as well the doctor should be) and she asked where it was being
delivered....to my house, or to her house?
Her house, I said.
She hoped she'd find it when she arrived home, so we hung up and I
decided to check its delivery status online.
Delivered at 9:48 a.m. ![]()
Called
her back, only to be assured she was home then and no package arrived.
Well, great. Hung up again and sat on hold with DHL.
It'd
been left on the front porch of a house three blocks away, for the
address wasn't Jessica's. I went and double checked but I'd entered
the correct address, so I cannot imagine why DHL thought it was
supposed to go to 4616. The DHL representative said she spoke to the
driver, who was going to go back to retrieve it and take it to where
it's supposed to be.
What a scary thing, though! I entered the
correct address, but it was delivered to the wrong address, for that's
what the delivery service had. Oy vey!

In the Dallas Morning News there's a story regarding the Big Tex Choice Awards, which is a competition between those who are introducing new foods for this year's State Fair.
The entries:
BTW, the Fried Cookie Dough won.
Anyway, let's see......high obesity rate.....fried cookie dough.....could there be a connection?
She's just as cute as she was on Friday, by golly. ![]()
I think Jessica likes her.....what do you think? ![]()
Her Aunt Kirstin arranged for one of those neat stork signs for their yard:
Tell you what, on the way home we started running into sporadic rain, which turned into a downpour as we exited onto Hulen. We were deciding how to get Mom into the house since she didn't bring an umbrella and I had one, though I'd need one when I got home, when it abruptly lessened a few blocks from her house. She was able to scoot out and through her door, but before I was half a block away, here came the downpour again!
Perfect timing.
Rarely has a hurricane sprung up like a wild mushroom as has Felix. At 1 a.m. CDT it was a Category 1 storm with 80 mph winds; now it's soared to a full-fledged Category 5 with 165 mph winds!
And it has a lot of room - and warm water - to grow before hitting Mexico.
Ouch.
Tonight's Iron Chef secret ingredient was citrus, and this was an episode for which I wish they'd provide recipes. Ummm-mmmm! Looked good, most of it. Except I will go to my grave unable to understand the appeal of raw fish (tuna) and undercooked pork. Blech. Tell you what, I'd love to have a crack at cooking with Meyer lemons and blood oranges, and even the peculiar-looking Buddha's Hand lemon. Good luck finding stuff like that in the local stores, though.
Here's an interesting tidbit of culinary information: did you know the mango is related to the cashew? When Alton Brown mentioned it, Bobby Flay's head whipped up as he exclaimed, "The cashew? It is?"
Today has been a drive Dmitry-and-his-friends around day, but tomorrow afternoon I'm taking Mom and a dinner out to Jessica's. I wonder if Bridgette's changed much since Friday?
Still no sign of Faith, last I heard.
