  • You know it's a slow news day when this is CNN.com's headline:

    Barbaro2

Yes, the big story of the moment concerns a race horse.   Does anyone, apart from the horse's owners and rabid race fans, really care?

  • nah. but thats better thasn sonme of fthe bad news we see mpst of the tie, right???

sorry for typos, nursing the angel.

  • This is a definite point, m'dear. It certainly beats the heck out of 9-11 and the like, which made for more impressive, but depressing, news.

I suppose it's like Don usually says in the morning when he comes in to give me my "Good morning" kiss..."Anything in the news?"

    "Nope. All's quiet."

    "Well, that's a good thing!"

It IS a good thing the status of a racehorse is newsworthy, looked at like that.

  • I do. I love horses, and I work at a Veterinary School, and had an intimate look at hoof anatomy. It amazes me how fast animals get their act together.  Once I saw a $125,000 show horse get its throat operated on for a paralysed epiglottis.  He was standing on his own.and ripping hay from the rack the next morning . Hope this colt gets to live; he's a beauty.

  • Yes, I would say there are thousands, (nay tens of thousands (Oh, I just kill me!)) of people whose bets didn't turn out like they thought they would last Saturday, who are at least a little interested in what happens with this horse!

  • Well, I saw a horse race in Ruidoso one time and the horse's leg broke and they took him off on a raft sort of deal and I don't enjoy horse races anymore!! I am happy to see this!!

  • Now look, y'all, I'm hardly antihorse!

It's just that, like the death of Tiger Woods' father, a horse flirting with the equine ladies doesn't strike me as headline material.
