Maybe I'll take up collecting Pop Culture Barbie dolls.
Who knew Barbie....which I recall when it was first released, black-and-white striped swimsuit, painted pony tail and all....had branched out in so many directions? Yes, I knew about the Disney Barbies, but these came as a complete surprise to me:
I also remember when The Flintstones premiered on Friday evenings. Wilma and Betty to the life! Um, so to speak.
Here's one I'd rather like to have....the Wicked Witch of the West:
Don't recall the witch being so attractive, however. It's still a jolly nifty doll. But here's the one I really want:
"The Birds" Barbie! That's one of the best Hitchcock films, by jingo. Wish they'd work to make one of Whatshername in "Rear Window"....the character played by Grace Kelly. Perhaps with her in the gown she wore when she had dinner from 21 delivered?
I'd buy it.

The Wicked Witch Barbie reminds me of Elphaba from the Broadway show "Wicked". http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GFBlxP31jLY&feature=related
Lisa Frasier, her name was. And I absolutely luuuuuuv the Dior styles in those Hitchcock movies. Yum. Ava Gardner's red dress in "North by Northwest" has inspired feelings of genuine covetousness.
But I'm sorry, that Tippi Hedren Barbie is just disturbing.
But Tippi's smack-on! It's disturbing because it's so perfect and evocative of the movie! Even her perfect coif is mussed just right!
If I were to buy one, creepy as it is, that's the one I'd choose from the ones you've listed.
I like the "I Love Lucy," ones, with both Lucy and Ethel, dressed for the conveyor belt in the chocolate factory, and even better, the Vitameenavegimin Lucy. Love it.
Jason got Rachel a personalized Barbie years ago, and he's been on their mailing list ever since. The catalogs come here and I always put them aside for a leisurely browse.

Well, sure, it's dead-on (no pun intended) Cindy, but what's disturbing is making a Barbie out of that concept in the first place! I know they're supposed to be collector's items and not toys, but still, it's a doll, and a doll that represents a woman getting murderously attacked (and evokes images of people who were pecked to death)...that's just wrong.
Jane, Jane! That gorgeous red dress has you distracted -- that wasn't Ava Gardner, that was Eva Marie Saint.
And, oh, everything Grace Kelly wore was covet-worthy, but yes, that particular dress was just... I don't have a superlative that's elegant enough for that dress.
