  • I know, I know....it's been quiet recently.

What can I say?  Just not a whole lot going on these days.  Dmitry's at
Carolyn's (as usual); Charles is working at Olive Garden and spending
time with one of the servers he works with (very pretty girl....he
introduced her to us last night); we're waiting for the newest Ivy
Poppets to be born (Faith, Alex and Beth's baby, is due in a few weeks,
with Bridgette, Jessica and Jason's baby, coming in September).

So, since there's not a lot to chatter about, I'll fall back on that
useful stand-by, photos, this time of Vika, taken on a trip to the
"Golden Circle of Russia" that's provided by one of the colleges for
which she works, plus one of her and her sister in Greece.

This one amused the heck out of me:

    Vika

Vika, I wrote her....why?  Why are you with a large rat?  Why?

She said it's actually a mouse,  and it was taken in the town of
Mishkino, which means  "city of mice."  Mice are a Big Deal in
Mishkino, though she assures me they're not running through the streets
or anything.  Mishkino's just a small town on the Volga that needed
something to attract tourists, so they chose mice.

Hey, worked for Walt, didn't it?

I love this one, as it just looks so doggone Russian it almost makes me puddle up with longing:

I've no idea what the building is, but it's a nice photo of Vika:

Here she is with her sister in one of the ancient structures in Turkey:

Sounds as if they had a super time:  "we went to an ancient
amphitheater for a most wonderful concert. it was like Riverdance, only
better. 50-70 people danced on the stage at the same time - including
    bellydancing!"

The Ivy Vine....you never know what you're gonna find.

  • I wish the Iron Chef people would ask me about what 'secret ingredient' to use.

Chickens provide scope, not a doubt about it, and the milk episode must have been entertaining, but wouldn't it be a hoot to have the lid roll back to reveal.....

    Brussel sprouts?

Maybe solid white, water-packed canned tuna, or vacuum-packed salmon?

Pepperoni?  The slices sold in the refrigerated meat section in packets?

    Frozen limeade?

Shredded wheat?  The original large ones, not the frosted mini-things?

Being creative with chicken's not so tough, but let's see Chef Bobby Flay make magic with Shredded Wheat.
