  • Heard from Charles!  The check-off-box prewritten letter with the SSAE worked, by golly.

Turns out he has the same hard-to-locate veins as do I, so between the various innoculations and their attempts to take his blood, he wound up being stuck by needles fourteen times.

He likes the food, is feeling fine, indicates the classes are easy so far, is making friends, and while he hasn't quite mastered the art of the mitred bed corner, he's closing in on it.

As of three days ago, his graduation is scheduled for March 24th.

Now I've got to come up with some more multiple-choice-answer questions to provide for his next communication.

  • RC said on some recording or other that when he was a little boy, he used to lie awake at night terrified at the thought of being drafted into the military -- not because he feared being shot at by enemies, but because he knew he'd never be able to make his bed as neatly as was required!

Send just one multiple choice question:

Do you love your mother enough to write a few lines below to tell her how you're doing?
    [ ] Yes [ ] No

And tell him that if he checks No, you will send the blank letter back to his drill seargent, or will send a photocopy of the blank form if he doesn't reply at all!

  • Oooh, I like it! >;^>

  • I forgot.  Where is he?  Chicago?  Michigan?  Somewhere up north, right?

I assume you'll be going to graduation.

  • Illinois, north of Chicago, right on Lake Michigan (well, one of the Great Lakes, anyway).

And of course we'll be going! =8^o

  • North of Chicago would be Lake Michigan.
