  • Okay, I've decided upon a title.

And a character.  Of sorts.  A sort-of character, since I
only sorta know what she looks like, her age, etc.  Actually,
she's pretty much only got a gender and a name.

But hey, it's a start, right?  From tiny acorns, mighty oaks grow and all that?

You know, I'll bet if I had a swelligant novel-writing program, it'd help a lot.

Better spend some time researching that.

  • I plan to use a wiki to organize my novel stuff. Mine's on a server, but if you only work from a home computer, there's some free personal wiki packages available.

  • Wiki? What's a wiki?

    Ooooh! More research. >;^p

  • Anne, you're post pic keeps changing.  What's up with that?

And don't worry too much about physical attributes for you characters, unless you're writing one of those Victorian style thingummies.  Some of Jane Austen's characters had fine eyes and good teeth, and sometimes a light figure, and one or two had freckles, but other than being acknowledged to be good looking or ill-favoured we don't know much about their looks.  And I don't think it damages her stories in any way.

  • A wiki is like...hmm...a way to quickly store and organize ideas. Its a system that makes it easy to create documents and then links between these documents.

Wikipedia is a highly polished and oft-used example of a wiki.

  • It's a profile picture, and being a changeable type, I like to switch 'em out.

Thanks for the info re: wikis, Kurt! Had no idea Wikipedia was one. Astounding how much I don't know.

  • You know, this is starting to tempt me.  At the very least I'm going to mention it to my always-writing-but-never-finishing daughter.

  • i got links from the babo forums... i mean nano, of course. i downloaded one i havent really used b/c i found if i outline/plan much I dont finish cause its boring to know whats goiung to happen, i like to let the characters lead the story.

    anyway its ywriter - http://www.spacejock.com/yWriter.html

i downloaded Roughdraft to type the novel in, rather than loading word on the laptop this year.

  • Just another wiki plug, you can open a free one here at WikiHost. Might be worth a whirl.
