LOL! Do you suppose it's possible that that could have been photoshopped?
Well, I hope it was.
Still thought it was funny.
(And there's no guarantee it was photoshopped, of course.)
Well, um, er, at least it'll protect the merchandise from flying glass!
Yeah, that's it!
You know, looking at it, I don't see how it can be photoshopped. If absolutely nothing else, there must have been SOME building with plywood on the inside, else somebody is both extremely skilled at photoediting and willing to spend a lot of time phonying up the photo.
Photo is real, description is inaccurate. Snopes to the rescue, as usual. It is, sadly, less funny when you know the full story.
It is still good and proper to mock Aggies at every opportunity, though.
Considering the fact A&M is reputed to be an engineering school of some renown, one would expect their bookstore's outer window frames to be constructed so as to be able to support plywood.
So the photo description stands, at least to some degree.
Inspite of the fact that all the males in my family are engineers, I are not personally a engineer. But I'm wondering - wouldn't having the plywood very close to the glass perhaps prevent the glass from shattering? Or not? Does anyone know?
The photo is a shot of Loupot's, which is an off-campus independent bookseller.
I may have even done graphics for them back when I lived there and worked for the sign biz.
Ah! Well, okay then.
I guess A&M's excused. Dang.
[glowering] Kurt, this is all your fault!
Don't worry, if you look hard enough, A&M's always got something mock-worthy going on.
