  • Wow!  I certainly hope this is accurate:

Researchers: Strolling burns more calories, reduces injury risk

Now researchers at the University of Colorado at Boulder have better
news for walkers: Strolling can help obese adults burn more calories
per mile than brisk walking and might even lower the risk of arthritis
and injuries to the joints than picking up the pace.

Doctoral student Ray Browning and his colleagues studied 20 men and women of
normal weight and 20 considered obese as they walked set distances at
different speeds. They found the obese people burned more calories
walking at a slower pace for a longer time than walking at a faster
    speed.

    This is excellent news indeed.

I can stroll like nobody's business.

  • Thee and me!! Strolling is what it's all about! None of this power walking with arms swinging madly and face turning red!! Lady like strolling!!! Just wander around the mall for 1/2 an hour several times a week. Now if I could just start to do that!! I wander around the house wondering where I was going, if I had gotten there and what I planned on doing! Don't think we elders just sit around!! We wander! That's what we do. Also we drive aimlessly. But carefully!! The fellow behind me gets a bit peevish but he's driving too fast anyway. I live in west Fort Worth for those of you who hate folks like me. I'm the one in the cushy cruiser! A buick. Love it. How I  got here from this subject I'll never know. Think I'd better quit now. Bye.
