  • This was such a good idea.  Thanks for forwarding the message, Mom!

Here is a thought that might save your life, as it did one of our
neighbors. You may be reading about the trial of the little scumbag who
murdered the G.'s - stole her car and credit card.  The murderer
went first to the home of another neighbor, who answered the door while
on the cell phone.  Seeing her on the phone, the killer prudently
decided to give her a miss, instead  finding another family around
    the corner.

Moral:   Keep a cell phone - even if it doesn't work -  next to the door, and pick it up when you answer the door.

  • And, always always look in the back seat of your car before you climb in. One of the officers my mom worked with met up with his daughter at a 7-11, he told her he'd see her at home in a few minutes. I'm sure you can guess the rest. They figured out her murderer was hiding in the back of her van. This happened over 20 years ago, I still always take a peek in the back of my car.

  • Oh, Anne, I loved your hair cut you got not too long ago...you remember the one you posted a picture of and said you'd never be able to get it to look like it did when you left the hair salon?! Well, today I purchased a hair iron figuring maybe my hair would look better if I ironed out some of the unruly waves. My husband came home and asked me if I got my hair cut today....I can't style my hair decently, normally I just let it do whatever it wants to do. Finally a hair tool that works (well, for my hair anyway!). Don't know why, but it just made me think of your cute bob.

  • The hair cut was on Oct. 20, AAMOF.

Hasn't been cut since. Couldn't exactly be called a "bob" any longer. Why am I always so dilatory about getting my hair cut???

And absolutely, looking in the backseat - or back of the van - should be automatic.

  • You and I must be related!! Last time I had my hair cut was in late November (I hacked at my bangs not long ago, can't stand 'em in my eyes). I had my hair cut very very short a couple of years ago and the stylist told me that once you go that short, you never have long hair again. I told her that my hair has been all sorts of lengths...it's just hair...it grows....fast (well, mine grows fast). Mine is headed to long again...
