Today's a Brianna day, and Dmitry's home because of the MLKJr holiday. After Dmitry soundly trounced us in a rousing game of Memory, he thought he'd have a crack at teaching her checkers. For about three minutes. Then he decided, okay, maybe checkers is a bit beyond her, but how about Connect Four?
I had told Dmitry he could go to CiCi's Pizza this evening because Pops would be late, but now Pops is coming home at the usual time, so I figured we'd go at lunchtime today instead.
Dmitry, thinking of Brianna, had another idea, which was subsequently adopted.
Let me tell you, I have been to the bowels of Hell, and it's......
Chuck E. Cheese.
What's astonishing is to recall when Don and I would take the older four there. How the deuce did we do that?

Hard to put this so it sounds kind and loving, but it is said in a kind and loving way - Chuck E Cheese is a young woman's game. Are we still friends?
Young woman's game indeed. I've been there a couple of times, once in my late twenties and once or twice in my early 30's, and let me tell you, I did not enjoy it then, either. I have managed to elude it for the last half dozen years or so, for which I am extremely thankful.
The only time I will set foot in that place is when my children are invited to birthday parties there. I WILL NOT TAKE MY OWN KIDS THERE VOLUNTARILY. ;-P
That's our rule, too. You invite us there on your nickel, and we'll show up. You ask us where we want to go out to eat, and it doesn't even get thought about, much less make a short list. Even our kids say the pizza there isn't so good. BLECH! Now, CiCi's! There's the place for cheap pizza!
CiCi's makes the bestest cheap pizza around, and the salad bar is included.
When Dmitry was grousing about the whole situation and wanting to leave...well before Brianna was ready to call it quits...I pointedly reminded him this entire fiasco was his idea. I'd suggested Cici's. ;^)
Bennett (my 6 year old) has decided that he wants his birthday at....Chuck E Cheese...my eye twitches everytime I think of it. I do not voluntarily go in there. Bennett discovered Chuck E Cheese because my brother and his wife decided that it would be a great place to have my nieces birthdays there (yes both nieces). I am really pushing for what we normally do birthday-wise....a party at home...small, personal and at home.
We don't have a CiCi's here (that I know of)....for pizza my kids favorite place is Whole Foods. Odd kids beg to get pizza at the natural foods store.
