You know, I like parades as much as the next person, but ISTM Fort Worth is overdoing it just a little.
Two parades in three days? Isn't that gilding the lily?
On Saturday was the Fort Worth Stock Show Parade (a cool one without any motorized vehicles permitted), and tomorrow is the MLKJr Day Parade, in which the Heights band is marching.
But TWO parades in THREE days?

My guess as an outsider - the Stock Show parade was there first, and has a long history of being on the 3rd Saturday in January (or some such thing). Now along comes this created holiday, and the Powers That Be "feel" that they must do Something Significant, or else they're just not being Sensitive Enough to the appropriate ethnically defined community.
So you get two parades.
