  • I wish it weren't for such a reason.

But still, it's exciting to think that after 13½  months, I'm finally going to see my Alexander again!

On Sunday I leave for Japan, to return on Monday the 29th.

Poor Beth has been having some health problems, and she's having a hard time caring for Hannah and Faith while Alex is at work.

    So off I go!

What's nice is that three days after I leave, Beth's mother arrives for a couple of weeks; for a month she'll have live-in help.    Hopefully by the time her mother leaves, Beth'll be back in fine fettle.

What a blessing the LORD has timed things so well.

  • Wow! Have a great trip, I'll pray for it to be safe. What a Blessing for Beth to have the both of you able to come out and help her.

  • Anne, I'm so grateful that you're going!  You have lifted such a weight off of my shoulders.  I've been worried sick about Bethany, and the 30th is the absolute earliest that I can go.  I had gall stones when Bethany was little, and I can honestly say it's the worst pain I've ever endured.  I've read that many mothers who have large babies end up having to have their gall bladder removed.  Luckily, the surgery is laproscopic, and I believe now it's day surgery.  Problem is, you cannot lift anything for at least two weeks.  Tough when you have two little ones!  I'm excited that you also get to see your son and hug grandbabies!--Ann

  • I hope that you have a safe trip and that soon Beth is feeling much much better. I'll keep you all in my prayers.

  • Elaine had to have her gall bladder out awhile back, and it was done on an out-patient basis, just like you talk about. She recovered pretty speedily, IIRC (right, Elaine? Or am I misremembering?), so we'll pray our Bethany does too. I'm very grateful for this opportunity to help.

Grannies to the rescue, that's us.

  • Thanks, Aisling and Cheri!

  • I  never realized there was a childbirth-gall bladder link, but it makes sense now that a friend of mine went through exactly the same thing when her fourth (or was it fifth?) child was born.  At the time I thought, "What lousy timing," but now I understand they're actually related.  Thing is, a speedy recovery is one thing for someone who's NOT recovering from childbirth, nursing, and not sleeping well -- quite another for a new mom.  It's great that she's got two grandmas willing and able to come over and help!

  • We're just thanking God for His ability and willingness to show His glory and love, even in the midst of storms.  Thanks G-moms!

  • Have a safe trip, Anne.  I'm sorry about the reason you're going but glad you're going to see family you haven't seen for a long time.
