Month: April 2007

  • On this Good Friday, a wonderful reflection from Dan Phillips over at Pyromaniacs: The Astonishing Jesus

  • Kirstin sent me an email with photos showing why it's surely good to be a pet; here are my particular favorites (numbered for ease of reference in case y'all are inspired to suggest a caption):

    1.  Leggy dog

    2.  Sandal

    3.  Hangers

    4.  Cat_sleeping

    5.  Salad

    6.  Cat food

  • Well, doesn't this just smoke my bacon?

I bought my youngest granddaughters Easter dresses last week, and they're both sleeveless.  Pretty much have to be, actually, as that's all that's available around here.   Normally Easter in April in Texas is warm, even up to 90°.

    The weather forecast for Easter?

Cloudy and in the low 50's.

Went out this morning and bought sweaters to go along with the dresses.

The low Saturday night is expected to be not too far off of freezing, which should make for peppy early-morning egg-hunting, I'd think.

  • Sorry for the unusual silence, but it's been basically rather quiet around here.  Just not much worth posting about.

Until now!  Y'all might recall my sister and bro-in-law's nephew, Evan, who's a soldier in Iraq?  Well, by golly, he's stateside for the week for some R&R, and after first going home to California, this evening he arrived here at DFW to spend a few nights with Jeanne and John.  Don and I were there, too, when he came in, and what a pleasure it was to meet him in the flesh.

My, my....the Woollises do hatch 'em out handsome, don't they?

BTW, y'all have been doubtless reading about the increasing amount of lost luggage?

Guess whose duffel bag didn't show up.  Guess which was the only bag to go astray on that flight from Los Angeles?

Right.  The soldier on leave from Iraq, who returns there on Saturday.

  • Seeing as how my family has a history of breast cancer I'm certainly supportive of the fight against it, but is there really a lot of call for pink kitchen appliances, bake ware, gadgets, and so on?

AAMOF, the passion for pink extends into other areas of housekeeping, such as the Dirt Devil:

Pink tool kit?  They've got you covered!

Though ISTM $79.95 is a little pricey for it.  I suppose one should consider the price overage as a donation to the cause, though.

Trouble is I've never been especially partial to pink.  Now fuchsia is another matter, but I'm not finding a lot of fuchsia appliances, etc. and they wouldn't go with my house anyway.

I'm just wondering how many of these pink items are actually being purchased?
