  • Last night was Matt's official birthday party, celebrating his 40th natal day.  It had an 80's theme, which I fear I forgot about and wouldn't have had anything particular to wear for it in any case.

Actually, trying to think of dress that epitomized the 80's was rather a trick, but some discussion led to remembrances of that being the era of the Linda Evans' look, with heavily padded shoulders, Anne Klein chunky, clunky goldtone jewelry, especially the "doorknocker" type earrings, with informal attire including leggings, รก la "Flashdance".

Above is, of course, Kirstin, looking very fetching in her outfit, and there's Matt in the white t-shirt with a gimme cap.

The food was brought by Jessica from Chili's....wings, fajitas, tortilla chips with a variety of dips.  Yum!

And I'll tell you what....I do like parties at Kirstin's house.  As we were leaving, Jessica told us that she is expecting a baby, too!

(BTW, that's not a photo of her giving the news, but I didn't take a lot of photos last night and this was the only one with a reasonably good shot of her.)

She thinks baby's due in August, as is Alex and Beth's newbie.  Won't that be cool?  To have them born in the same month?  Heaven knows our Jonathan and Jeanne's Justin used to have a good time together, and they were born just three weeks apart.

    Eight grandchildren!  What riches!

  • I'm so happy for you, Anne! Grandbabies - someday I'll know just how wonderful that is, but my sisters have enjoyed theirs so much, and I know you do too.

Happy birthday, Matt, and congrats to Jessica and Jason. Cousins who are born close together, and who are blessed enough to grow up in a family that nurtures their relationship, will always have a special connection. It's a blast watching Stefan and Ethan grow up together as best friends. Right now, they're all arms and legs and bushy hair - two super-tall kids who at least have one another to share that particular blessing/curse. :) I pray that your new babies/cousins can be that close. But be prepared for the adventures they could have together! You've heard enough Stefan/Ethan stories to know they can lead the whole family a merry dance.

  • Congratulations on more grandbabies. I have a while to wait, but I'm sure someday I'll know the joys of grandbabies!

I seem to remember the 80's and the clothing (more or less). I remember wearing polo shirts and levi's (my school and work attire). Big hair, big earrings, long sweaters, big shoulders. Ug!

  • We had Beth's appointment today. The due date actually got pushed back to the 27th! Isn't that cool? Both Grandaddy's and Anne Weigant's birthdays are then.

  • That IS cool! The 27th is a good birthday, indeed.

  • How wonderful!! Two new greatgrandchildren born in the same month! Well! And Beth and Alex's on Lawton's birthday! Isn't that amazing! Congratulations to Jessica, Jason, Beth and Alex and indeed to us all!

  • I always liked the eighties. Sweaters, polo shirts, plaid skirts, etc. The legwarmers we can do without, though.

  • Hey, that's right! The 80's was the era of the alligator-logo shirts, wasn't it?

  • What great news about Jessica & Jason having a little sister or brother for Brianna!  SHE must be the happiest one of all!   And congratulations again about Beth & Alex having a sibling for Hannah!  You are so lucky!

  • Love the John Belushi photograph hidden behind Kirstin.  Of course, "Animal House" was in the '70's, but he did DIE in the 80's, so I suppose it fits.

  • Oops, I mean behind Jessica.  I got the names mixed up.

  • Easy to do, John.

I do it all the time!
