  • Happy birthday to Dmitry!  e-banana    He's SIXTEEN years old this very day.  e-aw

We wound up getting him a new television (well, along with a T-shirt that says something about school starting before he gets up in the morning, plus a manga book and Borders g/c), as his was an cheap little thing I'd picked up at Foley's three years ago.  I know, I know...he needs a better TV like he needs pierced ears, but when offered a choice between the TV (Don's notion) and a new cellphone (my idea), he went for the TV.

Like father, like son, I suppose.  e-shrug03

Dan, Joe and Zhenya kindly came over this afternoon after school and the four of them went swimming, then returned here and hung out until Don got home, at which time we went to Dmitry's new favorite place, Long John Silver's.  Ick.  Well, the chicken wasn't too bad and at least they make a right tasty coleslaw.  Afterwards Dmitry and Joe brought up how they each have homework, so the party broke up.  It was a lovely birthday for him!

  • Clicked over from middleagedguy - wanted to say I'll pray for you as you send your "kids" off to Japan.  I thought it was bad that I'm in SE OK and my son & his family moved to Austin.  Now I'll count it a blessing that they're so close.

  • How nice of you to stop in!

Yeah, Japan's a loooong way away, that's for sure.

OTOH, perhaps they'll be able to score us some cool electronics before they hit the US market.

This is what's known as making the best of it.

  • LJS!  CHEAP FISH!  A boy after my own heart, although too much of that isn't good for same!  Still, you can still get a $2.99 lunch there!  Tell me, how after 3½ years, did LJS just now become his new favorite place?

  • Happy [belated] birthday to Dmitry!  ^__^

  • Ruidoso!  What a beautiful place. Yes, I do believe we'll have some cooler weather eventually despite the warmer globe we now live in.  Meanwhile, if we could just get some rain . . .

  • Oh, puleeeeze....Plumtree acting like this is some kind of coincidence.

Admit it, you sent him a subliminal influence in your Christmas card. Plumtree has to make sure new LJS fans are created so that there's no danger of the place going out of business when good taste sweeps the nation.

  • Well, I dislike fish.  Intensely.  Solid white canned tuna's okay, and I'll make croquettes from the vacuum-packed salmon now available (though not canned....blech!), but that's about it.

Turns out Dmitry loves fish, and while Mom and I were in Gulfport last month Don took him to LJS for supper and he was in hog heaven.

So for his birthday dinner last night, that's where he wanted to go.

  • Happy birthday, Dmitry, one day late. Sorry, i was off celebrating Hazel's birthday, a few days early, because her granddaughter is getting married on the actual day. :) KIDS! They mess with everything.

Hope it was a wonderful day. I tend to like LJS, to be perfectly honest, but after you leave the place, you smell like it until you've had a shower and washed every part of you, and even if you don't go in and only eat it, the greasiness tends to make me feel like a teenager waiting for a very bad case of acne to develop.

But yes, I do like it. Honest!

  • I like, fish, too. But we were talking about Long John Silver's.

  • Love fish, but not LJS....Happy Birthday to the Kid! May God richly bless him!

  • Happy Birthday to Dmitry! I had my own 12" black and white turn the nob- only the twilight zone came in- t.v. when I was a kid! and that says it all, really... ~Kathryn

  • Happy Birthday...late!  I hope he had a good day.  I haven't been to LJSs for years...now I want some!

  • Happy belated birthday to Dmitry (so, are you going to teach him to drive now? )

I've never been to Long John Silver's, I wonder if they have any around here I know they used to, I'll bet my picky little ones would like it (we're fish eaters)

He needs his ears pierced!!!???? HAH!!
