Where does the summer GO?
OTOH, it's going to be yet another in a lengthy series of blistering hot days, but school starts in four short weeks.
Oy vey!
At the last Gladney collaborative meeting a woman who'd adopted a couple of kids from Russia back in the early 90's suggested someone who used to work for the Child Study Center, but now does diagnostic testing (you know, for learning problems, etc.) privately. Apparently she does a crackerjack job, sitting down with the parent(s) at the end of the three hour testing period and going over the results right then, with a hardcopy report following a week or two later.
Dmitry's got an appointment on August 5th. Maybe she'll be able to distinguish between the areas in which he has legitimate issues from those areas where he's just a lazy hound.

My kids go back to school on August 17, in my mind August 17 is still the middle of the summer. The weather is still warm/hot and we're still in camping/summer mode. But I'll admit I've started buying back to school supplies. I have 1 kid that is excited about school starting, you know how fun kindergarten is, and 2 that seem to be dreading it. But I agree with you....Oy vey!!
Fort Worth is starting on August 14th, unfortunately.
However, this is the last year of starting in mid-August, as next year the new rules go into effect, so the first day'll be August 27th. Not quite as good as the Tuesday after Labor Day (which all right-thinking people recognize as the appropriate First Day of School, not to mention autumn), but better'n the middle of the month.
The year we went to OR and WA, Meg missed the forst four days ofher freshman year. Did that ever stress her out! School starts here at about the same time as you, but this year, she'll have a couple of weeks to finish up lazing around and socialising after we get back from OH.
I'm praying about that testing! It is very frustrating, isn't it? You want to help them be their best, and want to push when it is necessary, but if they are actually incapable... Of course, the biggest prayers are for the heart...if he would just want to do his best for the Lord Jesus, we can live with any other problems can't we, Anne Dear?
That's a fact, Kelly, but at the moment the testing is a nice, objective something-to-do. ;^)
Fortunately, it's not an either/or situation.
