  • Happy Independence Day!

The annual Concerts in the Garden fireworks displays, which are visible not only from our front porch but from the dining room, are drawing to a close, and as usual I've been on the hunt for the perfect photograph.

Tell you one thing I learned....don't use the "fireworks" setting on the camera.  Ugh!  Those pre-set settings (beach, snow, fireworks) seem to be pretty much useless.

What I'm striving for is this:

    fireworks04

      FIREWORKS_2_S

What I tend to wind up with is this:

    July06 056

    July06 065

    July06 078

    July06 082

I found some suggestions online for shooting photographs of fireworks, including using a low ISO setting, a tripod, plus using manual settings for aperture and shutter speed.

We'll see, unless rain moves in this evening.

Hope everyone's Fourth is both safe and happy!

  • Keep working on it, you'll get it one of these days !

We aren't going to see fireworks tonight :(   I wouldn't know where to go to see the ones downtown, and it's too wet out to go to the park and sit on the lawn as we've done in the past. Makes me really miss florida because where we lived we could see them from the yard.

  • Thank you for the fireworks, even without the sound. I enjoyed them. I was unable even to go to the 4th party at Heather's because I woke with a debilitating stiff neck which actually got worse instead of better as the morning went on. I wound up on the sofa taking muscle relaxers and wearing a wet heat collar. Darn! I hate to miss holidays! and I may have to delay starting out for Mgts cause I sure can't drive like this. Thanks for being here to let me vent, and thanks again for your wonderful fireworks pictures. Love, nananan in florida

  • I'm so sorry about your neck hurting, Nancy.

Praying it gets better PDQ so you can head to Mgts on schedule.
