  • OTOH, one thing I love about close-ups is being able to see big, strong, tough guys such as Houston's Chad Hedrick obviously puddling up as they hear the Star Spangled Banner played in their honor when they receive their gold medals.

    Go, TEXAS!!!

  • what do you want to bet he becomes a major heartthrob, with all his girlie blathering about his grandmother ;0) j/k.  You guys sure make good stock in Texas!

  • Hehehe. No argument from this wife, mother, daughter, and sister of Texas men.

  • What's with all the absurdly cute speed skaters this year? Joey Cheek's a really cutie, too. Usually they're these big square jawed rough hewn guys, but this crop could be models.

  • I was thinking the same thing about the women skiers and snowboarders. Is it a rule they have to be gorgeous? It's uncanny. The percentage of abnormally attractive women is off the charts, compared to what's seen as one strolls through Penney's on a Saturday afternoon.

  • It makes sense with snowboarders. Snowboarding is inherently a sort of showoffy sport -- it's all about doing things that attract attention, not merely things that are difficult and challenging. Just think how the sport must have got started -- people out there hotdogging on the slopes.

Gorgeous girls feel a lot more comfortable doing stuff like that. Us plain Janes tend not to do things that make us the center of attention, at least not as naturally.

  • Now there's yet another one -- that Ted Ligety who won the Alpine Combined. Men's alpine types are frequently the scariest of the bunch from an aesthetic point of view, but he's another real sweet-faced one.
