  • How 'bout them Horns?!?!

For those who can't get enough, head over to the UT band's Sounds From the Stadium to be able to listen to The Eyes of Texas, Texas Fight, drum cadences, etc.  You can also find movies of the various band shows there.

    Hook 'em, Horns!

  • It was nice while it lasted, but the holidays are over and Alex is taking his family back to Tennessee tomorrow.

This evening we met at the Don Pablos in Grapevine to have dinner, and get one more time with Hannah:

Granddaddy's poppet, and no mistake.  ;^)

We love Mexican!  Dmitry ordered chicken quesadillas and thought they were wonderful

At was delightful having them back in Texas for a few weeks!

  • Putin must have been dipping into the spiked eggnog a bit too deeply
over the holidays, that's the only explanation I can come up with for
his decision to halt Russia's exporting of natural gas to Ukraine over
    a price dispute.

This when Russia is trying to show Europe what a marvelously reliable
energy source it'd be!  Yessirreebob, that's the way to drive that point home.

Putin backed off fairly promptly due to European squawking (many
European countries get their gas from Ukraine, so when Ukraine's supply
is hit, Europe's supply is itself at risk), but the damage is already
done.  Rotsa ruck becoming The Reliable Source For Natural Gas now, Vlad.

  • Three more rogue photos from Christmas, received from my sister, Jeanne, and scanned in this morning:

Bethie and Brianna....the very best of friends, as well as cousins.  ;^)

Jessica and Charles.  He never poses so nicely for me, that's for doggone sure.

Caught in Elaine's kitchen were Jill, me, Elaine, and Matt.

  • This evening featured a treat!  A couple of Alex's long-time friends came by to visit before the three of them headed out to eat:

That's Rick on the left, and Marcos on the right.

  • We've figured out the reason most printers are so dang inexpensive....the companies plan on making their profit on the ink cartridges.

Don went to get a set of ink cartridges for our Epson R200, and was appalled to find it'd run him upwards of $70-80.

As he pointed out, the whole printer didn't cost much more'n that

I kindly showed him where the savvy shopper buys ink cartridges, which is eBay.  Got three generic sets for $37, including shipping.  It's generic ink that's been printing our stuff for the last few months, too.

It's scandalous, how much those manufacturers are charging for INK.

  • It took some searching but I finally located some poppers for Dmitry to celebrate the approaching new year in style:

Okay, I'm really going to bed now.  See y'all next year!  (It amused me to say that when I was a tyke, and it still does.)
