Y'all might want to TAKE COVER!
Why?
Because for dinner tonight I cooked, served, and actually ate Broiled Tilapia Parmesan.
It wasn't nearly as awful as I thought it would be. It wasn't as good as the reviews said it was, but it was edible, and Don and Dmitry liked it (Dmitry ate seconds).
Anyway, Anne voluntarily serving any fish other than vacuum packed
salmon in croquettes or canned solid white tuna is undoubtedly a sign
of the end of the world. Be afraid. Be very afraid.

Our favorite way to eat tilapia is en papiote (or however the heck you spell it.) I pile veggies (red potato slices, baby carrots, zucchini, onion, sweet pepper - any combination of these) on an oiled sheet of baking parchment, then lay the tilapia filet on top, with herbs, lemon slices and salt and pepper. Oh, and garlic. I roll the edges tightly, oil the top of the packet and bake. One serving per packet, btw. 425-450 degrees for 20 minutes and it's scrumptious! Veggies are best if parboiled but I've done it both ways.
We love it.
Well, two of us do. The third doesn't eat dinner with us half the time anyway.
And Anne, girl, I'm not afraid - I'm PROUD!
Good girl.

That sounds good, Cindy....I'll try that next.
I can't say I've ever had tilpia, and I'm a fish eater (but I don't eat beef, chicken, pork or lamb....ewwww) Any dish that a teenager eats seconds of is a good one. (if Robert doesn't like something, he'll say he's not hungry and later I find him eating cereal!)
I like tilapia. Very substantial fish. It is almost like a very fine chicken.
What kind of fish is this? Cold water or warm? I've seen it in the grocery stores but never bought it because I'm a very picky fish-eater, and I don't like any warm water fish.
I dislike the denizens of the deep, so all I know is it's mild as mild can be....no fishy taste.
Still chews like fish, though. However, I learned to like coconut, so daresay I'll become accustomed. Eventually.
They live in warm, fresh or brackish water. Really though, they're worth a shot. They're one of my favorite fishes now and my wife, who is not a big fish eater, likes them too.
I like it fixed as if it were trout, as in almondine! Salt, pepper filets, dust with flour, saute in butter along with sliced almonds and serve with lemon slices. Yum. Maybe it's the butter I like, even tho I use Smart Balance. I'm easily fooled!!
