  • Does this, or does this not, resemble the top of a slip or nightgown far more than it does anything intended to be worn out in public?

  • Camisole comes to mind which we old ladies wear to keep our middles warm. One does wonder what will be the style next. I'm having the carpets cleaned, economy level, hope it goes well. Mom

  • It looks like a pretty slip. Definitely not outerwear!! (I can picture my mother wearing that....with a robe over it)

  • Picture coral, with long sleeves. That was the robe my mother got me when I got run over by the truck.

    Not Me.

    Not even a little bit.

  • Y'all notice how slyly she slid in how she was once run over by a truck?

    She was, too. =8^o

  • I saw that picture yesterday and commented on it to Meg.  We agreed it was NOT exactly appropriate Easter wear to say the LEAST. Meg said, "Makes you wonder what sort of church she attends!"

  • I'm sorry! It's just that a lot of you have read the story, which includes my mother getting me that silly robe that was so utterly NOT me that Lois returned it - we'd been friends before but somehow, an experience like that (returning the robe, having the clerk refuse to return it and having Lois say, "Well, my friend was run over by a truck..." and having the clerk stop her there and give her the cash - well, I survived the accident with bruises and aches that lasted about 3 months (and a broken finger) but I ended up with a best-friend-friendship that's lasted for nearly 20 years. I'm not exactly sure when the accident happened! The accident happened at our neighbor's house when we were feeding their cat while they were away. They did NOT have a child then. Their daughter is 17. And they moved here 22 years ago. Somewhere in between, probably in the 20 year range.

SO THE ROBE IS RELEVANT! Even if it was ugly.

  • Ok - I have never in 20 years told that story so briefly.

  • Oh, and WAY TO GO MEG! Very nice comment.

  • Anne, just be thankful you have no teenaged daughters. It's a major undertaking to keep them in decent clothes anymore.

OTOH, it's going to be an alarmingly short time before your grandgirls will be old enough for such things to become a concern. This stuff is trickling down younger and younger. I suppose little Kristen is well into that realm already.
