  • It's a sad thing when one starts outliving city landmarks.  For years as I was growing up the Continental National Bank building was the tallest building in Fort Worth, with its thirty stories.


    The really slick thing about it was the huge, revolving clock on top, which could be seen for miles.  Very handy it was, too, when one was driving past downtown.



    Lemme tell you, not every city had a skyscraper with a big ol' boxy revolving clock on the top.  It was unique.  It had character.


    As time passed it began giving trouble, but it'd get fixed and start going again.  Finally it stopped, went dark, and stayed dark. 


    Now the whole building's probably going to be imploded.
