Is there a fast food place convenient to you, so you go there, but it's a PAIN?
The McDonald's on the corner of Camp Bowie and Montgomery is
ours. Just got back from getting supper for the boys and
me."Number One, supersized, with Sprite," I began.
'"Is that all?" a perky voice asked before I could draw breath and continue.
"No," I replied, "there's more. I also need another Big Mac, a McChicken..."
This time I was interrupted. "Is that all?"
"No," I grimly responded. "As I was saying, in addition to the Number One, supersized, I need another Big Mac, a McChicken, and a large fry," I finished in a rush.
Silence.
"That's all," said I, in a faux-cheery voice.
"That'll be $9.96. Pull up to the first window." So I did,
handed over a $10 bill, received my four cents, and put the change in my wallet
despite being urged to "Please pull up to the second window!" For
crying out loud, there was no one behind me. I can take five
seconds to put some pennies in a wallet. Pulled up to the next
window, and received the drink."Could you please pull forward and I'll bring the food out to
you?" the young man staffing the window requested. There was
no one behind me. There was no one ahead of me. There were
two cars parked, with no one at the inside counter. What the heck
do I need to pull forward for? This place always
makes you pull up so they can haul the food out to you. It's
weird. However, I sighed and began to obey orders when he
yipped, "Never mind, ma'am! Here it is!" and he handed me a large
sack. Great. Good. Sheesh.Got home and began to divide the food up.
No large fry.

They have some kind of system that counts how long each car is through the drive through I bet. I had friends who worked at Long John Silvers when I was 16 and they would have us go through the drivethrough and leave when it got to like 30 seconds. Weird.
I want mcdonalds now. tommorow is payday.
Yeah, but I wasn't even given 30 miserable seconds. It's "Here'syourdrinkpleasepullforward."
What's odd is this is an habitual occurrence at this particular McDonalds. None of the others do the same thing on a consistent basis . . . only when it's busy, and your order is going to take a few minutes.
Oh well!
I very very rarely go to fast food (I don't eat it, just don't like it)...I'm sure that my kids think I'm mean....but really, they do beg for pizza from Whole Foods, 2 enormous slices for $5, so I guess that's their version of fast food.
We used to have a Burger King in town. I think they closed because they couldn't seem to get even the simplest of orders right.
