BION, today is the opening day of the official Oktoberfest in Munich.
It runs two weeks, beginning today and ending October 7th.
That’s strange. I’d have thought a two-week Oktoberfest could be contained completely within the 31 day month of October. Why have a full 1/2 of it take place in September?
Oh well. It’s Bavaria’s festival (begun in 1810 upon the marriage of King Ludwig I to Princess Theresa of Saxony-Hildburghausen), so presumably they know best.
Erst mach’ dein’ Sach
dann trink’ und lach!
(First take care of business,
then drink and laugh!)

We have alot of Catholics here in IN, of German descent. The large church in town, St. Mary’s, is having a Germanfest with a beer garden and polkmusic and dancing. Rich won’t be back until late tonight, unofrtunately. But apparently, in the south part of IN, alot of this sort of thing goes on.
Those Indianans are a wild bunch, by jingo.
We have Octoberfest here in the middle of Texas!! Lots of music, beer, pretzels, wurst, etc. So there. Hummph.
That’s a fact, and maybe this year we’ll get down to West, which I believe has an Oktoberfest celebration.
