Okay, what do y’all think?
Thanks to the generosity of my sister, Jeanne, who gave me the “thank you” gift cards she received from some company or other (I got – well, Don – a $20 Visa debit card from TXU as a “thank you” only I can’t figure out how to use it), I went to Penney’s and used one of them on a quilt for my bed and a floor lamp for the living room.
Which do you think looks better for the placement of the lamp? Behind the sofa:
Or to the right, with the pub table moved over?
Maybe I moved the table a smidge too far to the right. That’s the trouble with decorating. Pick, pick, pick!
Zeus does love it when put the computer down on the floor, for she’s discovered the heat vent:
Kitty heaven! ;^)

I like the lamp next to the couch and the table better.
I do too. Only I would say move the table closer to the couch and the lamp. Love the look! -from Alex
I agree with the others. And that’s a much better location for Zeus.
Using my amateur design eye, I traced the lines in the room. Arrangement A looks like this:

and Arrangement B looks like this:

The lines in Arrangement B are more pleasing to my eye.
That’s quite an effective argument, Hannah. ;^)
I didn’t think of doing that, but it makes sense. You and your artistic eye!
Second picture is preferred, yes to the table being moved the slightest bit to the left, and IT LOOKS GREAT!!! The tweaking has most certainly paid off!
Well, when considering where to put a lamp, design’s important, but the usefulness of where the light shines is important too, right? So maybe you want to consider that?
Oh, about the Visa Gift Card. Did you try going to the website and get into the account for it. I think I had to do that to get it to work.
I’m with Hannah — I like the second picture better too. Mosey likes the first one better though, because she likes to see the corner lit up. As a compromise, maybe you could add a short uplight behind the couch (one that wouldn’t be visible) that could light up that corner, if that’s a concern for you.
Very pretty lamp.
