  • Hannah’s going to have a little sister!

Alex called this morning to tell us the news….Beth had the sonogram, and their new baby’s a girl.

He allowed as now they need to think of a girl’s name, seeing as how they were going to use Caleb Ray, which is what Hannah’d been, had she been a boy.

I told him that’s kind of funny, as his father and I never “reused” a name.  We’d have girl and boy names ready, but whichever name wasn’t needed fell permanently by the wayside.  One chance and that’s it, by golly.  Can’t think why, really.  e-shrug

My sister Jeanne and I had such good times growing up together, as do Meredith and Margaret, Elaine’s girls….I’m delighted to think of precious poppet Hannah having this same pleasure.  e-aw

  • I never reused (first) names either. If my boys had been girls we would have – Aine Nicole, Teresa Nicole, Lilyia Elizabeth (unsure of the spelling we would have used for the first name). If aaralyn had been a boy Matthias Lee – now if I were to have an unexpected fifth child I WOULD use that one. But it was decided on before I was pregnant as a 4th boys name. So thats different right?  If I were to have a 5th (note – there are no plans or desires for a fifth child. lol) and it were a girl I would totally use what was my back up girls name (“in case its twins”) – Elise Nicole.

  • OH And congrats on the GIRL news .

sheeeesh am i self centered this mornign or what ?

  • Very nice, Grandma. How sweet -I can just picture matching dresses and such. :)

Joe and Amy are having a boy – they told us last weekend. I’m excited for them. Of course, I’d have been just as excited about a girl. I was talking about how sweet Baby Dior Boy clothes are – I think they make the nicest ones for newborns, and the larger department stores have specials on their baby clothes all the time. Joe was aghast that I’d consider putting BABY DIOR on his boy! Amy said she was more into cargo pants and sweat shirts. I said, horrified, “On a newborn?? You have to have some sweet baby blue things on a newborn!” She said, “Yes, Grandma. We’ll do that for your photos.” :)

Do you see why I love that girl? Jason’s gotta find one just like her.

  • As Anne so nicely said, it is wonderful in retrospect to have 2 girls or boys w/in 2 years of each other. They do enjoy playing together which is a blessing if they are girls but 2 boys close together can quickly become a team, then a gang and then watch out below!!! Our son, our only boy, always wanted a brother. He kept asking when we were going to have a boy for him to play with as Jeanne and Anne had so much fun playing together. Sigh. Can’t please everyone.

  • It’s odd, but when Anna was expected, we came up with three girls’ names and one boy’s name and used the girls’ right down the line.

But we picked new names for both of the boys. Josh didn’t even get the boy’s name we’d picked for Anna. I can’t even remember the boys’ names we didn’t use.

    Congratulations to the A. Ivys!

  • Congratulations!
