I’ll tell you what’s “amazing”, and that’s people’s taste in art. According to CNN, this painting, along with the second in the series, was auctioned off yesterday for over $500K:
Yes, it’s dogs playing poker. I’m not sure whether it’s because my taste in art is too plebian or not quite plebian enough, but for whatever reason, paintings of animals behaving like humans has always left me cold.

Do you like art? Theres this great coffee shop in SW FW called Artistic Blends (http://www.artisticblends.com). I love going there to listen to music when they have someone playing in the coffee house (they do for-pay shows too, in the back), and to look at the art, and just to hang out. My friends and I got together for a “moms night out” to knit last week. And the chai is cheaper there than starbucks, and just as good since they use Tazo.
This picture was popular back in the 30′s or so. I remember seeing it as a child and enjoyed it as a child. I rather agree that as a grownup I wouldn’t be quite as intrigued. Also, I suspect it ranked then as the photos of that dog that are so “in” now adays. Can’t remember the breed but it is short haired and either dark brown or dark grey. Times they do change! Thank goodness. Mom
